  • Family Tree Maker 2017 Problem.

I am 80 years old and have suffered amnesia as far back as I can remember. I have always been a Greek Mythology fanatic. I am trying to draw up a family tree starting with Chaos and Gaea, the very beginning as far a Hesiod is concerned. The tree involves many unions between brother-sister, mother-son, father-daughter, gods-humans, etc. FTM2017 fails me as it will not accept these unusual pairings. I don't want the name Zeus to appear twenty times while referring to the same entity. Can anyone recommend a FTM software that would solve my problem? A quick read-through Zeus on Wikipedia alone will draw a picture worth a million words.
I thank one and all in advance for all assistance, opinions, advice, gossip, whatever.
    Tony Vella, Ottawa, Canada.

Hello tonyvella is there not a setting within FTM that you can ignore certain data? It's been a while since I used FTM2017 as I now use FTM2019, so am a little unsure if the settings are the same for both?

As tonyvella asked for a good FTM software, I'd suggest trying Creately's Genogram Maker. I’ve found it very useful for drawing family diagrams, and it offers great features for visualizing relationships.

It’s a bit of an older post, but thought to share my experience for all those who read at present too.

Traditional genealogy software like FTM usually struggles with mythological trees. You might want to try ClarityTrack™ System by EasyGenogram – it’s flexible and lets you map out complex relationships without duplicating the same entity over and over. It’s designed to handle non-traditional connections, so it could be a good fit for your Greek mythology family tree.
